We've seen the Qline run up and down Woodward for the past few months, testing out the operations of the streetcar for better, more reliable service. This weekend, the Qline will provide service for customers, with regular service starting Monday.

The Qline is running for customers from 6 p.m. to midnight both Friday and Saturday for Dlectricity, the light-based art installation festival throughout Midtown. On Monday, the streetcar will open for normal operations from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. As activity starts picking up through venues and offices in Midtown and downtown, the schedule will adjust accordingly.

The Qline will be free to ride through the end of the year.

“We are excited to kick off the return of the QLINE in partnership with DLECTRICITY,” said M-1 RAIL President Lisa Nuszkowski. “As regular activity continues returning to the Woodward Corridor, we are focused on connecting riders to all there is to experience along the QLINE.”

The Qline's goal is to provide service every 15 minutes for passengers, which has been a struggle in the past. According to a press release, the company has been working on dependability through new technology in the streetcars, the ability to move obstructions out of the way quicker, and a new operators.

Many have also noticed the limited transit-only lane in front of the Little Caesars Arena, which runs from Temple to the I-75 Service Drive. The M-1 Rail hopes this will help during special events downtown. The transit-only lane will also serve DDOT and SMART buses.

Meanwhile, the People Mover was intended to run again by now, but excessive rain has led to the need for further inspections on some of its platforms. When it reopens, it will be free to ride in its first 30 days.
