New details were released today for one of the most highly-anticipated redevelopments in Detroit. Bedrock announced that Book Tower will be home to Roost Apartment Hotel, with 118 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments across four floors.

The Roost Apartment Hotel will be run by Method Co., and will include a co-working space, on-site housekeeping, a bike share program, a coffee concierge, and a fitness center.

“As Detroit continues to grow as a place where people want to live, work and play, the ROOST Apartment Hotel will offer a completely new hospitality option for those who may be relocating to the City, but also for those who just want to enjoy a few nights downtown,” said Kofi Bonner, CEO of Bedrock. “As a recent transplant to the city of Detroit myself, I recognize first-hand how important it is to feel at home in a new place and I am excited for all those who will experience their first taste of downtown living at ROOST in one of Detroit’s historic architectural icons.”

Additional features of the Book Tower redevelopment include an additional 229 residential units, 85,000 square feet of retail and office space, two restaurants, a hotel lobby bar and lounge, a bread and pastry bakery, and a rooftop event space.

New York-based architecture firm ODA is leading the historic renovation and interior design of Book Tower, while Morris Adjmi Architects is designing the custom furniture for the ROOST units at Book Tower.

Bedrock has been working on the historic restoration for years, starting with a thorough exterior cleaning in 2017 after decades of soot settled into the skyscraper.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
