This pastel-bedecked dwelling just east of downtown could help shake off winter’s doldrums and live la vida Old Fourth Ward, or something like that.

Priced at $305,000, the one-bedroom unit at the Wigwam Condos has enough character—and strategic location—to compensate for its lack of sheer space, at least by Atlanta standards.

Listing agent Serene Varghese, of Origins Real Estate of Georgia, calls the “iconic” building across the street from Lotta Frutta “a breath of fresh air with the incoming snow and ice we’re getting this weekend.” Named for the Native American figure on the roof, the recognizable complex has been echoing South Beach with its Miami-Art Deco lines and palm-studded grounds since 1940.

According to the Atlanta Preservation Center, the Wigwam—designed by Vincent Daly and constructed by architects Cornelius King and Sons—stands today as a rare Atlanta example of International Style modernism. An easement permanently protects the stucco-clad complex from redevelopment.

“The building’s flat roof, windows, cubic shape, and unornamented exterior are characteristic of the International Style,” APC officials have noted, “distinguishing it from the cottages and Queen Anne-style houses typically found in the neighborhood.”

Stepping inside, the 552-square-foot Unit E features a legit bedroom (sans legit closet) and clever, space-conscious measures like two office nooks and a dining/dishwashing ledge.

It’s not lacking for cheerful paint schemes, which contrast nicely with new bamboo floors and updated fixtures. A cozy patio in front beckons espresso sipping.

HOA fees are a relatively palatable $172 monthly. And an added bonus—maybe—is the fact this condo has two entry doors, in case slipping away undetected is ever necessary.
