East of Atlanta, a tucked-away section of Avondale Estates is getting a food hall to complement its status as a growing brewery hotspot.

The project, Olive and Pine, will reimagine the Mann Mechanical Building, a low-rise industrial facility off East College Avenue where mechanical systems were engineered for more than 50 years.

The 100 Pine Street property is within a couple blocks of three Avondale Estates breweries: Wild Heaven, Lost Druid, and following a grand opening last month, Little Cottage.

The $5.5-million project will encompass 25,000 square feet, most of that in the food hall portion. It’s a joint venture between architects Andrew Rutledge and Danny England with the Decatur-based Office of Design firm, Metro Green Construction president Cole Vickers, and Tin Drum Asian Kitchen founder Steven Chan, as Decaturish recently reported.

Plans call for opening Olive and Pine in January, if not sooner.

The adaptive-reuse venture will see between seven and eight food and beverage concepts in a section called the Grand Hall, with other loft spaces suited for office uses. The property is also capable of housing another brewery or distillery, as marketing materials note.

Marketers tout the project’s walkability to hundreds of new apartments—with more on the way. All permits will be issued by “business-friendly Avondale Estates,” per a leasing brochure.

We’ve asked for updates on construction and leasing activity and will update this story with any intel that comes.
